Burnham charity will benefit from May’s ‘Summerset Live’ music fest

-

The organisers of a two day music festival set to take place in Highbridge during May have announced that BARB will be one of the two charities benefiting from the event.

Summerset Live will take place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May at the Oaktree Arena.

The event aims to showcase some of the great local musical talent there is in the south west while also helping local charities.

The organisers have announced its bands will include The Mangled Wurzels, The Somerset Paddies, The Fallen Apples, Shoot The Moon, Snappa, Oas-is, The Stanley’s and Firekind, who have recently won the title of ‘Best New Band in the World’.

Organiser Jordan Jones said: “The first of the charities to benefit from our event will be BARB Search & Rescue, which operates two life-saving rescue hovercrafts and an inshore rescue boat. They have been providing support to those affected by the floods on the Somerset Levels, delivering important supplies of medicines, food and drink to those villages cut off by the flooding while also evacuating some of those who have had to flee their homes. We are happy to make them one of our chosen charities.”

A BARB spokesman said: “We are very grateful to the Summerset Live organisers for choosing BARB as one of their charities, helping us to keep our life-saving inshore rescue boat and hovercrafts running. As a small independent charity, we rely solely on local donations so really appreciate the support.”

Further information on the event, including ticket prices, can be found at www.summersetlive.com or by contacting Jordan on 01278 782216.
