Walkers and other beach users have been warned to be aware of exceptionally high tides along Burnham-On-Sea’s coastline over the next few days.
The highest tides of the year at over 12 metres will come this evening (Monday), prompting Coastguards to warn beach walkers and motorists to take extra caution.
The high tide times in Burnham-On-Sea today (Monday) are 8.16am (11.83m) and 8.39pm (12.02m) and Tuesday at 8.59am (11.86m) and 9.22pm (11.88m).
A Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard Officer spokesman said: “We do advise people to take extra care as there will be a greater risk of getting into difficulty during this week’s high tides.”
“Check the tide times and stay away from areas where you might get cut-off or into danger – particularly if you drive on the beach or walk along the dunes.”
Crews from the Coastguard, BARB Search & Rescue and Burnham RNLI are on call as usual to respond to any incidents.
The Environment Agency has warned of the possibility of flooding along low lying parts of the Bristol Channel.
