A sporty Burnham-On-Sea pensioner has this week handed over more than £1,000 to charity, having completed two fundraising triathlons.
90 year-old Arthur Gilbert presented £1,085 to The Musgrove Leukaemia Group – after collecting the money from sponsors following Burnham’s April and June triathlons.
Maureen Hudson, who is the charity’s Bridgwater representative, accepted the cheques and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are hugely grateful to Arthur for his incredible fundraising.”
We reported here in April that Arthur had completed Burnham’s triathlon – comprising a 250m swim, followed by a 10km bike ride and a 2.5km run – in a time of one hour, 20 minutes and nine seconds.
