Residents shocked over thefts of two vehicles in one night

-

Residents of a quiet Burnham-On-Sea street have been left shocked by the theft of two vehicles from outside their homes in one night.

Police are appealing for information from the public after thieves struck at Cookson Close, off Ben Travers Way.

Two Ford Fiestas were stolen overnight last Wednesday, much to the shock of their owners Kelly Edrich and Graham Hallsworth.

“You don’t expect this to happen in a quiet street like this, which is why we want to warn local people to be on alert,” Graham told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The theft is doubly annoying for Kelly, who suffers from ME, arthritis and osteoporosis, because her vital wheelchair was inside the stolen vehicle.

She now has to rely on a mobility scooter but Kelly says the loss of such crucial equipment “is a great loss.”

“Thank God I have the mobility scooter or I would not be able to get around at all,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Kelly Edrich’s son, Jack, found her vehicle had also been taken from outside their home on Thursday morning. “He went out when it was time to go to school and said he couldn’t find the car – I could hardly believe it had gone,” said Kelly.

Graham Hallsworth’s L-reg vehicle had also been left outside their home last Wednesday night. “We left it at 7.30pm and my wife was shocked to find it had gone at 10.30am the following morning.”

Anyone with information should contact police via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
