Burnham-On-Sea and Weston tourism bosses have teamed up to promote the message that our area is still open for holidaymakers despite flooding on the Somerset Levels.
Amid concern that national media reports are continuing to portray Somerset as being unreachable, tourism consultant Deborah Matthews has teamed up with Ian Jefferies, Burnham’s Tourism Manager, and Les Barber, Burnham’s Coach Destination Manager, to launch the promotional campaign via social media and at an exhibition.
An online campaign promoting the #openforbusiness campaign has been launched on Twitter and Facebook, also supported by Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The Weston and Burnham tourist teams will also be exhibiting at the annual ‘Best of Britain and Ireland Exhibition’ at Birmingham’s NEC on March 12th and 13th.
Deborah told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am passionate about tourism in the area, as are Ian and Les, and it has been great getting our heads together and getting the message out there for Weston and Burnham.”
Les added: “Working with Love Weston has proved a valuable partnership for Burnham, marketing joint ideas under our tag ‘the seaside of the M5’ and this will be one of the key points at the show next week.”
“We aim to highlight that Somerset is open and proving great value for coach operators as a joint destination for day trips and as a base for the forthcoming holiday coach tour season.”
