TV weatherman to switch on Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights

-

ITV West weatherman Bob Crampton and an inspirational Burnham-On-Sea resident who has raised over £50,000 for charity are to switch on the town’s Christmas lights this year.

The event, in Victoria Street, will take place on Saturday, 19th November at 6pm, and will be preceded by an afternoon of live entertainment and family attractions from 3pm organised by Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade & Commerce.

There will be festive performances on stage from St Andrew’s, St Joseph’s and Brent Knoll School choirs, plus the Lisa Jane School of Dance, the Mudlarks, Coastline Singers and Burnham On Song.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm by ITV West weatherman Bob Crampton and Burnham-On-Sea postman and charity fundraiser Mark Penfold, whom we featured here earlier this year, alongside the town’s Mayor.

Father Christmas will make an early visit and there will be refreshments, stalls and other attractions throughout the whole afternoon. Several shops in Burnham town centre will then be open during the evening.

Victoria Street from Regent Street to Vicarage Street and a small section of
Princess Street will be closed to all traffic from mid-day until 7pm on the day.

In the evening, a fundraising even called ‘Blitz at the Ritz’, organised by BEST, will be held at the Ritz Social Club.
