£1,000 of kit donated by Burnham residents to help floods clean-up

-

£1,000 of equipment to help with the clean-up operation after flooding on the Somerset Levels has been donated by residents in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge.

A coffee morning raised £400 and a further £600 has been donated by Burnham’s Moose Ladies Circle towards the cost of the kit.

“Having spoken with those overseeing the clean-up about the type of equipment they wanted, we have delivered a large quantity of brooms, forks, torches and heavy duty gloves – all of which has been very gratefully received,” said one of the organisers, Highbridge resident Pat Burge.

“A big thank you goes to everyone who’s donated in the Burnham and Highbridge area towards this equipment,” she added.

“We have had a marvellous response from local people who have been so keen to help the flooded areas in any way they can.”

“We are really pleased to have helped the clean-up operation, even if it’s in a small way.”
