Burnham’s beach and seafront were uncharacteristically quiet on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon (May 26th) after heavy rain and winds sent holidaymakers diving for shelter.
Many of the town’s shops and tourist accommodation providers reported a poor weekend of business, with some visitors cutting their breaks short due to the poor weather.
Roads out of Burnham were very busy from mid-morning onwards on Monday as visitors started their journeys home early.
Alex Turco of Burnham Chamber Of Trade told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Saturday was good, but Sunday and Monday were patchy at best. Four rainy Bank Holidays on the spin is not good for trade,” he added.
It comes after the May Day Bank Holiday on May 5th also saw poor trade for local businesses.
