A high-profile TV chef will visit Burnham-On-Sea in May to judge a baking competition during the town’s Food & Drink Festival and also hold a unique show of his own.
Glenn Cosby, a contestant on the BBC’s ‘Great British Bake Off 2013’ will be bringing his UK tour to The Princess Theatre on Friday May 23rd to open the town’s Food and Drink Festival.
His live cooking show, called ‘Bake It Big with Glenn Cosby’, will let the audience get up close and personal with him as he makes his trademark bakes.
Glenn will then be in town for the Food & Drink Festival the following day – Saturday May 24th – when he’ll be the star judge of ‘The Great Burnham Bake Off’.
Glenn said: “I’m really excited that we have managed to get “Bake It Big” into shape to take out onto the road. The show is part biographical, part “Bake Off” memoir, and part organised chaos!”
“Not only do we make cake, and big cake at that, but there is a chance for everyone to get involved, have some fun, laugh themselves silly and really embrace all things baking.”
Tickets for ‘Bake It Big with Glenn Cosby’ are available from The Princess Theatre’s box office on 01278 784464 or online here.
Festival Director Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are really pleased to have worked with The Princess Theatre to attract a ‘big baking’ legend like Glenn to Burnham. We hope that Glenn will be impressed with the baking talent in Burnham-On-Sea and we are sure he will rise to the challenge of the tasting and judging.”
To enter the Great Burnham Bake Off, sponsored by Burnham’s Positive Wealth Creation, all you have to do is bake a cake, a loaf of bread or a dozen uniform scones, download an entry form and bring them along to the Somerset Skills & Learning centre in Princess Street before 2.30pm on Saturday 24th May 2014. Entry forms and more details are on the festival website here and more details about Glenn and the show are available here.
A spokesman added: “Over seven weeks last year, millions of TV viewers watched every technical challenge, every showstopper and sat at the edge of their seats as Glenn worked his way through series four of the Great British Bake Off. Now in his next major step to make sure his trademark Big Bakes and infectious personality are seen by as many people as possible, his brand new show ‘Bake It Big with Glenn Cosby’ is starting a twenty date tour across the UK including Burnham, which will be the opening event of the May Food & Drink Festival. Expect a live cooking event like no other!”
