Dozens of athletes will be taking part in Burnham-On-Sea’s first Olympic distance triathlon on Sunday morning (September 11th).
One hundred triathletes from across the UK will be competing in the grueling event, which will comprise a 1,500 metre sea swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run.
“The is a first for Burnham – it’s the first time a triathlon of these distances has been held here and it puts us on the map for full distance races,” one of the organisers, Sara Cox-Conklin, told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We’re delighted to have a full line-up of 100 entrants.”
The event will begin at 6.45am with a bracing sea swim and this will be followed by a bike run to Wedmore, passing through Cheddar, Rooksbridge and Brent Knoll, and a 10km run around Highbridge’s Apex Park.
