Burnham-On-Sea theatre goers flocked to a new group’s first drama festival, which was held in the town last weekend.
The Princess Theatre Company was set up last October and held its first Festival of New Writing and Drama with four plays performed.
The opening night saw a two act play performed called ‘Kiss me Donkey’ by Max Taylor, which was set in the height of the Roman Empire and explored how the stoical belief in witches and gods affected the fate of a small Greek community. The audience gave it glowing feedback.
Saturday night also saw three short plays performed – ‘Dead Liberty’ by Kim Cook, Rebecca Strickland’s ‘Happily ever…’ and ‘Paradise View’ by Jo Backhouse which were all met with further positive feedback from the appreciative audience.
A spokeswoman for the Princess Theatre Company told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great event and we really appreciate all the support from those who performed and came along over the weekend. We were really excited to introduce the company by performing four plays by different writers from the Princess Playwright Group in our first festival.”
The group’s next production will be held in the summer and will be ‘The Meeting’ by Lewis Coleman, to be performed on 4th July.
