Burnham-On-Sea’s Manor Gardens will be alive with the sound of music on Sunday September 25th when Clevedon Brass Band will take part in a nationwide bandstand marathon.
The Bandstand Marathon is being held as part of a ‘Cultural Olympiad’, which is designed to give everyone in the UK a chance to be part of London 2012 and inspire creativity.
The Burnham concert, which is being sponsored by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, is being organsied by Somerset-based not-for-profit music development agency Superact.
Ali Smith, Superact’s Director, said: “The Bandstand Marathon started life in 2008 with the aim of enlivening public spaces and celebrating the nation’s much-loved bandstands.”
“Over the past three years we have seen audience numbers grow throughout the UK and we expect this year to be bigger than ever.”
Burnham-On-Sea will be among an estimated 150 venues across the UK taking part this year.
