Big beach clean-up operation to take place at Berrow tomorrow

-

Volunteers are being sought to join a major beach clean-up at Berrow on Sunday (September 18th) as part of a nationwide event called ‘Beachwatch Big Weekend’.

The event will be part of a countrywide clean-up operation and a survey of beach waste organised by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) that aims to help protect marine wildlife.

The Berrow beach clean will see the volunteers meeting at 12.30pm at Berrow beach car park on the beach.

Any age or level of fitness can undertake the litter surveys. There is no restriction for dogs and free litter bags and gloves will be provided, but there will be a charge for car parking.

This will be followed by a guided walk at 2pm around the sand dunes and marsh area by local nature expert Bob Corns, who will discuss how Berrow’s sand dunes were created. Those wishing to take part in the guided walk should assemble at 2pm where the main footpath from the nature reserve car park enters the beach.
