A former Burnham-On-Sea scout leader is to face trial accused of committing a string of sex offences.
David Burland, 53, appeared at Taunton Crown Court on Monday (September 19th) where he denied 33 charges including indecent assault, sexual activity with a child, indecency and exposure.
He was released on conditional bail ahead of a pre-trial hearing in two months’ time.
The charges – which relate to children under the age of 16 – are alleged to have taken place between 1987 and 2010.
The Scout Association said Mr Burland was suspended from any form of contact with the movement as soon as the allegations were reported. He has been involved in the Scout movement since the 1990s.
