Highbridge’s Apex Park is named seventh best park in Britain

-

Highbridge’s Apex Wildlife Park has today been voted one of the country’s most cherished parks in the annual People’s Choice Awards public poll.

All Green Flag Award-winning parks and green spaces were entered into the annual poll, which saw thousands of people voting for their favourite green spaces.

After hundreds of votes from Burnham-On-Sea.com readers, the park has finished at number seven in the overall list of the UK’s top ten favourite parks.

Sedgemoor District Council’s Clean Surroundings section clean the park daily; cut the grass; maintain the wild flower meadow; check and maintain the play equipment.

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award Scheme manager, added: “Congratulations to Apex Park for being one of the UK’s favourite parks, proof that the park has a special place in the heart of its community. Quality parks and green spaces play a vital role within local communities and having access to places like Apex Park is important to us all.”

Over 13,000 votes where received this year with a diverse range of sites featuring in the Top Ten – from traditional parks and country parks to university campuses and cemeteries.

The competition is run by Keep Britain Tidy, the group behind The Green Flag Award scheme. Apex was recently awarded a Green Flag for a fifth year running, as Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here.
