Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Choral Society performed its popular annual Christmas concert on Thursday (8th December), raising a great amount for a local charity.
The well-attended concert, held in St John’s Church in Highbridge, saw the group singing a selection of traditional Christmas music from composers Vaughan Williams, Handel, Stanford and Holst.
The choir were also joined by Burnham and Highbridge Brass Band, and Baritone soloist Samuel Oram during a memorable night of nostalgic festive music.
“We thank everyone who came along to support us for this superb concert. We wish all our friends and supporters a very Happy Christmas,” said Chairman Peter Read.
A collection was held in the church for Burnham-based In Charley’s Memory, which provides mental health support for youngsters and is named after local youngster Charley Marks who took his own life.
The Choral Society’s new Spring term will start on Thursday 5th January 2017 at 7.30pm in the Methodist Church Hall in Burnham-On-Sea when new members will be very welcome.
