Police warning after Burnham and Highbridge night-time burglaries

-

Burnham-On-Sea Police have this week urged residents to step up their security after a spate of burglaries in which high value items have been stolen.

Three homes have been broken into and two attempts have been made to enter homes in Burnham and Highbridge during recent weeks.

The latest incident occurred on Tuesday this week when a home in the Walrow area of Highbridge was entered and valuables were taken.

“The offences have mostly taken place during the hours of darkness and have involved entry to homes via a window or insecure door, often to the rear of the premises,” Burnham Police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We are encouraging residents to ensure their exterior doors are locked and secure at night and that all high-value items, such as iPads, mobile phones and laptops are not visible to people outside the address.”

“We would also ask them to let us know if they are offered cheap items locally.”

The Police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or who sees suspicious activity should contact Burnham Police via the non-emergency number 101.
