Pedal bike thefts prompt warning from Burnham-On-Sea police

-

Police in Burnham-On-Sea have this week warned cyclists in the area to take extra care in securing their bikes after a spate of thefts.

One bike was stolen on Saturday from outside the 99p shop in Burnham High Street while another was taken from a front garden in Rosewood Avenue.

In total, four insecure pedal cycles worth hundreds of pounds have been stolen, prompting the warning.

Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We would advise bike owners to ensure they are not left in view and are securely locked away when not in use.”

He appealed for anyone with information about the thefts – or who is offered cheap bikes – to contact police via the new non-emergency number, 101.
