Burnham-On-Sea’s MP James Heappey has visited a local Royal Mail Delivery Office to thank postmen and women for all their hard work during Royal Mail’s busiest period of the year.
Mr Heappey saw at first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post to addresses across the area and to pass on season’s greetings to the busy staff.
Mr Heappey said: “When you walk in to a sorting office at this time of year it is just the most staggering sight. Thousands of parcels, tens of thousands of letters and in the middle of it all; a small number of extraordinarily hard-working postmen and women ready to deliver our mail in all weathers. Some were even in shorts!”
“I’m hugely grateful to them for all the hard work they put in at this time of year.”
The last recommended posting dates for Christmas are: Second Class – Tuesday 20 December, First Class – Wednesday 21 December and Special Delivery – Thursday 22 December.
