Burnham-On-Sea seafront flower beds won’t be permanently removed

-

Sedgemoor District Council has reassured Burnham-On-Sea residents that flower beds along The Esplanade are not being permanently removed.

The council said this week it has temporarily removed two of the existing flower beds on the South Esplanade while work is undertaken to remove a weed.

“These two beds were infested with Oxalis, an invasive weed that is very difficult to permanently get rid of and also smothers the bedding plants in the summer months,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The area of the old beds has been turfed over. A new bed will soon be created in the area between the original beds to compensate for their loss.”
