Work starts on study into Burnham-On-Sea beach and dunes erosion

-

Burnham-On-Sea residents are being invited to have their say about how the risks of coastal flooding and beach erosion could be better managed.

Sedgemoor District Council, the Environment Agency, Somerset County Council and the South West Regional Coastal Monitoring Programme are developing a new 10-year beach and dune management plan for the coast between Burnham and Brean.

A community drop-in event is being held at Burnham’s Princess Theatre and Arts Centre in Princess Street on Thursday October 13th between 3pm and 7pm when residents will be able to have their say on the risks.

Organiser Phil Perkins told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The event will provide residents with information about our project and what it is aiming to achieve.”

“It will also provide residents with an opportunity to give us information about coastal erosion issues that they feel should be considered.”

“We are particularly keen to see photos, maps and plans that illustrate how the coast has changed over the years.”
