Burnham and Highbridge Town Council has assured residents this week that ‘no plans’ are being drawn up to sell its council chambers.
A Town Council spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday (October 6th) that a discussion had taken place about cutting costs.
“The council holds a periodic review of the running costs of its Jaycroft Road courthouse,” Council Clerk Eileen Shaw told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“A full discussion was held about the matter, but no decisions have been taken or imminent plans put forward to sell the building.”
It follows the accidental publication of a set of confidential minutes on the town council’s website earlier this week which revealed the old courthouse had previously been valued at £500,000 in 2006 and that talks with potential developers may be about to be held.
