May Day family fun to be held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove today

-

The Friends of Marine Cove and Sedgemoor District Council will be holding a fun-filled May Day family fun day today – Bank Holiday Monday (5th May).

Taking place from 1-4pm, the event will see a whole host of free activities and craft fun taking place.

There will also be a unique Fairy and Elf Hunt – with children encouraged to search for hidden fairy figures and mischievous elves among the flowers and hedges!

“The event is free to attend and we would love to see the garden filled with families and friends,” said organiser Jacqui Strong.

“There will be a small gift for all children who enter, along with singing from Burnham On Song and dancing from St Joseph’s School children.”

King Alfred Youth Brass Ensemble will be playing throughout the afternoon and the Chalice Morris Men will close the event at 3:30pm.

Children are also being encouraged to dress as fairies or elves for a parade around the garden at 2pm.

Jacqui added: “Alongside this event if there are any young ladies interested in becoming this year’s May Queen they are invited to attend the garden at 12:30pm to read through their favourite poem and tell us a short piece of information about themselves.”

This event is being hosted by The Friends of Marine Cove, who will be assisting on the day and serving refreshments, supported by Sedgemoor District Council. The event is weather permitting.
