In photos: Awards presented to Highbridge In Bloom winners

Dozens of people filled Highbridge Community Hall on Saturday evening (October 8th) for the town’s annual Highbridge In Bloom awards presentation night.

Certificates and trophies were handed out by Burnham and Highbridge’s Deputy Mayor Ken Smout and his wife, Janet, plus Sedgemoor District Council’s Vice Chairman, Cllr Peter Downing.

The ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ certificates were presented by South West in Bloom judge Tony Moore – with the winners being Friends of Apex Park, Friends of Fairdean Road & Clover Way, General Higgins House, Southwell Crescent Residents and Morland Residents Association.

Tony also presented the South West In Bloom Chairman’s Discretionary Award Certificate and trophy for Highbridge Station to Peter Ernest on behalf of Severnsidetrack, adding that it was the cleanest station he had ever seen!

The Mayor’s Cup was awarded for a second year to Highbridge Dreamscheme, while Highbridge Chamber of Trade’s trophy for the best commercial display was awarded to Russell Chedzoy of Bay Tree Upholstery.

The other winners were Arthur Burridge, Marky Akers, Morland Social Club, Mr D Emery, G Swatbridge and Colin Selway, John Shattock, S Florev, Marion Wright, Paul Hocken, C Picton, Colin Selway, Phil Bawden, T Searle, Mr Neale, A Rogers and Shirley Adams.

The children’s winners were Mya Carey, Chloe Bushell, Maggie Horton, Rowan Musby-Frost, Stephanie Archer, Louis Cox, Carrie Simpson, Jake Richards, Kassara Parkes, Cameron Blackmore, Naomi Brown, Nancy Woods and Hannah Murdoch.

Pam Lyes from Highbridge In Bloom told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a superb evening and the Highbridge In Bloom team thank everyone who attended. Special thanks go to Cllr Ken Smout and his wife plus the Vice Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council Cllr Peter Downing.”
