A brave Burnham-On-Sea mother whose son tragically died of cot death at just three days old has led a sponsored beach walk to focus more attention on the syndrome and raise money for two local charities.
Dawn Carter lost young Archie to cot death in April this year and wanted to do something to try and raise awareness of the fact that 17 babies die from the syndrome in the UK each year.
Dawn and more than twenty friends and family bravely hope to have raised a large sum by holding the sponsored beach walk on Sunday (July 27th) from Burnham-On-Sea jetty to Brean Down and back.
Father Anthony Mallin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The family was devastated back in April by such the sudden loss of Archie at such a young age.”
“When we found out that seventeen babies die every day from cot death in the UK, we felt we had to do something to try and help prevent other families going through what we have experienced.”
Money raised during Sunday’s walk will go to SANDS and Burnham rescue charity BARB.
