900 bottles of water handed to charity by Burnham-On-Sea residents

-

Over 900 surplus water bottes have been collected by a charity following last month’s Burnham-On-Sea water mains burst.

The unwanted bottes were collected at Tesco’s car park in Burnham on Saturday, just over a week since Bristol Water handed them out during a water mains cut.

The collected bottles were collected by Fairshare to help vulnerable and needy families across the region.

Organiser Michelle Haines, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We collected over 900 bottles of water during Saturday – there was an excellent response from the public and I’d like to thank everyone who donated their bottles.”

“This will really help Fareshare Southwest so much and it’s down to those people that’s made it so successful. I’m very grateful to Tesco for letting me use their car park and for being a great help throughout this event.”

“I would also like to say a big thank you to Gareth Morris from Burnham Handyman for lending me his van for the day and for taking the water to Bristol. Also, a big thank you goes to Lee Baker who stayed and helped me all day. Without these people I couldn’t have made this happen.”
