Emergency services rush to Highbridge Hotel after false alarm

-

Emergency services from Burnham-On-Sea rushed to the fire-damaged Highbridge Hotel on Thursday evening (August 7th) after a local resident spotted smoke rising from the area.

Three fire engines, a police car and an ambulance were at the rear of the former hotel – as pictured above – at 10.45pm amid initial fears that a new blaze had started at the site.

But the incident turned out to be an apparent false alarm, with one nearby resident telling Burnham-On-Sea.com the smoke had been from a nearby bonfire.

In April this year, Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report a huge fire had devastated the property.

The building’s owner, Derek Mead, is due to hold a meeting after the summer holidays to discuss his plans for the site.
