Members and supporters of Burnham-On-Sea’s Chamber of Trade gathered to hear about a busy year of activities for the organisation when its AGM was held last week.
At Tuesday’s meeting in The Princess Theatre, traders received updates on Project Coach and Burnham’s mini lighthouse trail – both of which are helping to attract new visitors to the town.
The Chamber also updated members on its latest initiatives to boost trade, which include the launch of a brand new version of Burnham’s shopping guide booklet, along with a project to promote Burnham across the south west region.
The Chamber has also been lobbying the Town Council to push forward with town centre improvements and the appointment of a new Town Centre Manager.
An update was also given on the chamber’s busy schedule of activities, which have included members events and several successful shop window competitions. The next contest will be a food-themed one running from May 23rd to May 31st around the Burnham Food Festival.
Burnham Chamber of Trade is also working on a series of festive events to further boost trade in the town, including the Burnham Christmas lights switch-on on November 22nd and a late-night festive shopping evening on December 5th.
During this week’s AGM, the winners of the Chamber’s Easter shopping competition were announced – as pictured on the right. The overall winner received a cash prize of £100.
Further details about how to join the Chamber – from just £10 per year – are available on the link below.
Mark Newman was re-elected as Chairman, Deryk Monaghan as Treasurer, Bev Milner Simonds as Membership Secretary and Kay Rossiter as Secretary.
