Wintry scenes like this could return to the Burnham-On-Sea area this week when a spell of arctic weather arrives.
The Met Office is warning that bitterly cold conditions will move southwards from Wednesday evening, bringing freezing winds, ice and potentially sleet and snow.
Friday is set to be the coldest day of the winter so far, with forecasters predicting wind gusts of up to 55mph in exposed coastal areas.
The snow warning area was widened this afternoon (Tuesday) to include Burnham-On-Sea and the whole of Somerset, although forecasters stress that there remains uncertainty about exactly where snow will fall.
The chief forecaster for the Met Office said: “A cold airstream will be in place by Thursday afternoon, bringing occasional snow showers. Two to five cm of snow is possible.”
