Last chance to sign up for Secret World’s fundraising beach walk

-

A final few places are available for East Huntspill wildlife rescue charity Secret World’s fundraising beach walk, run or cycle ride between Burnham-On-Sea and Brean on Sunday October 30th.

Called the ‘Brean 14’, the event will see entrants being able to choose between a 14km run, a 6km walk or a cycle ride and there will be prizes for the best in Halloween fancy dress and activities for children including apple bobbing, pumpkin stencilling and face painting.

Those wishing to take on the full challenge will head off from The Beachcomber Clubhouse at Warren Farm Leisure park and continue to the halfway point just past Burnham’s beach lighthouse. They will then re-trace their steps back towards Brean to the finishing line.

For those who prefer a shorter challenge there is also a 6km Fun Walk where entrants will stop at the half-way point, Brean’s Sundowner Cafe where refreshments will be available plus Halloween themed activities for children.

“Why not take part dressed in your favourite Halloween fancy dress and our judges will be on hand to award prizes to the best costumes! There will also be an opportunity to meet some of our birds of prey and learn about all the different types of wildlife that Secret World cares for. The event finishes at the Beachcomber Clubhouse where you have the option to rest your weary legs and indulge in a carvery!” said a spokeswoman.

Entry costs £10 for adults, £5 for those under 16, with dogs going free. Groups of more than 10 people should call the fundraising team on 01278 783 250.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. Although there is no minimum sponsorship requirement, Secret World is asking that entrants raise as much as they can. Registration forms are available here.
