Burnham-On-Sea care home to unveil refurbishment during open day

-

Burnham Nursing and Care home will be opening its doors to the public later this month to showcase its newly-refurbished second floor which will soon be taking new residents.

The residential floor will feature seventeen luxury bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, new lounges and new dining areas.

Visitors to the home in Burnham’s Oxford Street will be able to meet the friendly care team, enjoy refreshments and see the newly refurbished rooms at the Open Day on Friday 20th January from 11am.

The refurbishment is part of a rolling upgrade programme at the home that will eventually see a new roof, refurbishment of all floors and upgrade to the outside areas.

Previously a school and home for retired nuns from the La Retraite order, the building was thoughtfully converted to a care home in 1991 with many original features retained.

“The building has a long and interesting history in the community at Burnham-On-Sea but has been in need of refurbishment for sometime,” explained Alykahn Kachra, Managing Director of Country Court Care.

“The refurbishment will help us to bring the home up to the high standard that we have in place across the Country Court Care group.”

Led by a new management team, The Burnham Nursing & Care Home has an exciting future ahead and the new Home Manager Ken Bishop says he’s looking forward to building on the excellent care provided at the home.

The Burnham Nursing & Care Home is currently home to 53 residents and offers nursing, residential and dementia care in a homely setting.

Ken joined Country Court Care in November this year and brings many years of care home management experience, having worked in care since 1995 after leaving the military where he was a Royal Navy diver and medic.

He first worked as a carer, then qualified as a Registered General Nurse before working his way up to a management position. Originally from the Somerset area Ken lives in Bristol and is looking forward to the exciting plans in place for The Burnham Nursing & Care Home.

“I am very happy to be managing The Burnham Nursing & Care Home, I’m a family person and I love the family atmosphere here at the home, Country Court Care is a very family orientated business,” explained Ken.

“We’ve got exciting plans to expand and continue with the fantastic care offered here at The Burnham. I’m lucky to be working with a great team of carers and support staff here at the Home.”
