Wassailing ceremonies to be held across Burnham-On-Sea area today

Cider lovers in the Burnham-On-Sea area will be able to wish good health on apple crops for the coming year during several local wassailing events starting today.

The centuries-old tradition of wassailing will take place at events across the Burnham area.

Rich’s Cider Farm in Watchfield near Burnham-On-Sea will hold its 2017 wassailling evening tonight, Saturday 14th January, from 7pm-midnight. Music will be provided by The Skimmity Hitchers and Bob Darch Music. Proceeds will go towards The League of Friends Burnham-On-Sea Hospital and local Rotary charities. Tickets are available at £7.50 from here.

And a wassailing evening will also be held at Chestnut Farm in Edithmead tonight at 7.30pm. Call 01278 785376 to reserve tickets, priced at £5 per adult and £2 per child (includes ploughman’s supper and mulled cider).

Brent Knoll’s West Croft Cider Farm will hold its wassailing evening, with a torch-lit procession, on Saturday 21st January from 7pm. Tickets are priced at £11 with accompanied children under 14 free. Entrance will be by ticket and will include a glass of mulled cider, plus free samples of a selection of the farm’s ciders. Reserve your ticket by calling 01278 760 762 or from Westcroft Farm or Brent Knoll Village Shop. All profits will go to Brent Knoll Parish Hall.
