Police have said the man killed after being struck by a train near Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday night (May 25th) was a teenager.
Police were called to a stretch of railway line close to Highbridge and Burnham Station where the body was found, as reported here.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said the incident involved a 16-year-old male who is believed to have been from the area. A report is being complied to be passed onto the coroner.
The spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called shortly before 9pm following reports of a person being hit by a train near Highbridge and Burnham Railway Station.”
“Our officers attended alongside ambulance and police colleagues and discovered a young male had been struck and killed by a train.”
“Officers are now working with the family to identify the deceased and will provide support to the family.”
The spokesman added that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
