Budding chefs compete in Rotary Young Chef contest in Highbridge

-

Young chefs from across the region gathered in Highbridge on Saturday (February 4th) to take part in a cooking competition.

The annual Rotary Young Chef contest for district 1200 was held at King Alfred School where ten budding young chefs displayed their culinary skills.

Three finalists were chosen by the judges to go through to the South West regional contest in Shaftesbury in April.

They are Nikolas Jones of Dorchester, Katie Prigg of West Coker and Charlotte Penny from Crewkerne, pictured below with Mark Newbery, President of Burnham Rotary Club.

Phil Parker, district organiser, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The ten youngsters were given the challenge of cooking three courses in two hours – and did exceptionally well.”

“We were very impressed by the high standard of the entries – they all did really well – and the judges had a tough job in choosing the three winners.”
