A courageous Berrow woman who has battled with anorexia for over 30 years is to hold a unique fundraising event to raise money for a charity that has helped her.
Vanessa Holbrow from Berrow has suffered with anorexia for over three decades and plans to bake a large batch of dog treats to raise money for Beat, a leading eating disorder support charity.
Vanessa said: “I’d be so grateful for any support. I’m not long out of a six-month hospital stay where I was treated for anorexia and I want to give something back and raise awareness of eating disorders and the work Beat do.”
She says that on March 3rd she will take her baked dog treats to Take Two, a dog-friendly cafe in Burnham-On-Sea.
“They are kindly supporting me with this by putting up my main poster and will take on some treats for the dogs that go into the cafe with their owners.”
“Beat do a considerable amount to support and help sufferers, employers and educational establishments to raise awareness in their vision to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders.”
Vanessa aims to bake 725 dog treats as part of Eating Disorders Week from February 27th to March 5th because more than 725,000 people are affected by an eating disorder in the UK. She added that any leftover treats will be given to the RSPCA in Brent Knoll.
Beat will also be holding ‘Sock it to Eating Disorders’ Day where everyone can wear silly socks, take a sock selfie and donate £1.
Back in 2015, Burnham-On-Sea.com reported how Vanessa raised £1,621 for Beat by holding a sponsored headshave.
