Mystery supporter replaces counterfeit cash at Burnham carnival club

-

A mystery supporter of a Burnham-On-Sea carnival club has generously come to the aid of the group by donating £100 to replace the counterfeit money they were given in August.

Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report in August how Hillview Carnival Club had inadvertently accepted £100 of worthless bank notes during a street party held outside the Somerset and Dorset pub in the town centre.

The matter shocked the club’s members, who spend many hours holding fundraising events each year so that they can build the best carnival float that their money allows.

However, the story has come to a happy ending after the generous supporter came forward during the last few days.

Hillview’s Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We were delighted to have a surprise visit from a strong supporter of the carnival a few days ago, who generously gave us £100 to replace the fake money we’d received in August.”

“The supporter said they wanted to remain completely anonymous and just wanted to help us out. It’s wonderful to think that there are still people like that out there who will help in this way.”

“It was a big disappointment in August when we realised that we’d accepted the fake notes, but at least now the story has a happy ending.”
