Burnham-On-Sea police were called to the fire-damaged Highbridge Hotel this week following reports that people had been seen inside.
Officers found several of the wooden boards at the rear of the property had been tampered with in order to gain entry to the building, as pictured on the right.
Police contacted the property’s owner, Derek Mead, to alert him to the security risk.
It comes after Mr Mead told Burnham-On-Sea.com last month that he wants to restore the building to its former glory, rather than demolish it and start from scratch.
The building was left in an unstable condition following a huge fire in April and has been boarded up ever since.
