Football fans crowded into Burnham-On-Sea’s pubs on Thursday night (June 19th) to watch England’s crunch World Cup match.
The game finished Uruguay 2-1 England after a nail-biting match in Brazil, but the result gave England’s World Cup campaign a severe blow.
Suarez scored twice for Uruguay while Rooney hit one goal, resulting in celebratory scenes in pubs across the Burnham area, as pictured here.
But the final Suarez goal just minutes from full time put fans into despair.
Our photos show the fans in jovial spirits at the beginning of the match in Burnham’s Clarence Hotel and The Railway.
England next play Costa Rica on Tuesday, with only a very slim hope of them qualifying for the next round.
