A new amateur dramatics group is to launch in Burnham-On-Sea this summer, inspired by a young toddler’s battle to overcome a brain tumour.
Agate Creative Talent, an amateur dramatics society, is being formed to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Jessie Hawkes, the group’s manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “My niece, Lyra, who is aged just one, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November.”
“Our little miracle is healthy and has regained her eyesight after being told she was blind and may not be able to see again. She truly is an inspiration to our entire family and friends.”
Jessie, pictured with Lyra, added: “I wanted to do something positive to help the Brain Tumour Research and using my talents seemed like a good start.”
“We will be featuring and holding various shows throughout the year to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.”
The new Drama Group will be based at The Dance Studios on the Westmans Trading Estate in Love Lane, Burnham from August 3rd.
The group will meet 12.30pm-2.30pm every Sunday by holding a 2-hour session priced £5 per person when all children aged 7+ are welcome to apply.
Jessie says the group is original and new, adding that its first project will be a music video to be filmed around the area that will feature the members.
