Christmas star opens Brent Knoll garden centre’s festive display

-

Greg Addison from Brent Knoll officially opened the Christmas displays at a garden centre near Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (December 3rd).

Nine-year-old Greg was chosen to declare Sanders Garden World’s Winter Wonderland officially open by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.

Peter Burks, General Manager of the garden centre, explained: “We held a competition to search for a child to come and open our Winter Wonderland and we picked Greg to be our VIP for the day.”

“Greg, who has Cystic Fybrosis, was nominated by his mum Jo for always being cheerful despite some aspects of his condition.”

“Jo thought it would be great for him to have the chance to be treated like a VIP for the day.”

Greg received a free pass for four people to the Winter Wonderland and also received four free passes to see Santa in his grotto.

Santa arrived at the garden centre in style onboard Burnham’s Light Of Elizabeth rescue hovercraft after being towed through Burnham town centre during a grand tour to the event.

Fundraisers collected for BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and the Freewheelers.

Greg was joined by runners-up Bronwyn Clark, aged five, from Burnham and five-year-old Kayden Wright from Brent Knoll.

Peter added: “Our Winter Wonderland experience is themed around penguins on holiday. Entry for adults and children costs £1.50 per person. Santa will be in his grotto from December 10th. Entry will cost £7 per child.”
