The centre of Burnham-On-Sea briefly came to a silent halt on Saturday (June 28th) when residents marked Armed Forces Day.
A flag-raising ceremony and a brief silence in memory of those who serve in the country’s armed forces, was held besides Burnham’s Pier Street fountain.
The whole ceremony was overseen by the Royal Air Force Association, Burnham on Sea & District Branch 591, with its President – John Bryan, Wing Commander (Rtd), and Chairman, Geoff Hutton – Sqd Ldr (Rtd) and other members of the RAFA attending as well.
Town councillors, residents and representatives from local groups – including Mayor Martin Cox – attended the ceremony. Cllr Cox told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was wonderful to see the good support, demonstrating the local backing for our Armed Forces.”
