Dozens attend Burnham-On-Sea exhibition on new Hinkley Point plans

-

Dozens of Burnham-On-Sea residents took up the opportunity to quiz power bosses about their plans to extend Hinkley Point power station at a day-long exhibition in the town on Thursday (November 6th).

Residents had the opportunity to see current plans for a potential new nuclear build, and raise any concerns and questions they had during the eight hour public exhibition in the Princess Hall.

Kaa Holmes, EDF’s Head of Corporate Media Relations, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had been successful. “Those who have come along have been very interested to find out more about the plans for Hinkley. We’ve heard a wide mix of views, with some in favour and others against.”

He said that the earliest date that a new Hinkley nuclear plant would start generating power would be 2017, with building taking four years to complete.

British Energy began its public engagement process in April with a meeting at the Cannington Centre for Land-based Studies, which saw over 100 people from the community voice their views.
