Delighted members of Gremlins Carnival Club were celebrating on Monday (November 10th) after scooping the top prize at the 2008 Burnham-On-Sea Carnival.
Their impressive float – called ‘Nemesis’ – impressed a majority of the event’s 60 judges to win the sought-after Phil Harris Memorial Cup for the best entry in the entire procession.
The same entry also won first prizes in the categories for best feature entry, best feature and best towing vehicle.
The night also proved to be a good one for Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Juvenile Carnival Club. Their float, called ‘Jesters Parade’, won first place in its home town for ‘best local entry’ and also took third prize in the ‘Juvenile Feature’ class.
Carnival President Malcolm Borland told Burnham-On-Sea.com the overall standard of the entries had once again been of a “very high standard.”
