Burnham Youth Council tackles dog fouling problem with leaflet drop

-

Members of Burnham and Highbridge Youth Council hope to reduce dog fouling in the towns with a series of new leaflets and posters.

The youngsters, pictured, have been working on a communication projuect to raise awareness among dog owners of the anti-social nature of the problem.

“It’s a problem that the Youth Council cares a lot about so they have been creating leaflets and posters which will be distributed at Apex Park and on the town’s beach this summer,” said town councillor Kate Lawson, who is one of the Youth Council leaders.

“We will also be awarding certificates to responsible dog owners who pick up after their pets and keep our open spaces clean.”

The group is also researching whether anti-fouling messages can be drawn onto footpaths in the area to further raise awareness.”
