£45,000 upgrade for Burnham and Highbridge play areas underway

Play areas in Crosses Penn, Coleridge Gardens and Stiling Close in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge are getting a £45,000 revamp this summer.

A new unique multi-play unit is being installed which includes a slanted spinner, balance rope bridge, rail slide and various platforms to replace the existing frame in place which is at the end of its useful life.

Work to improve the park in Coleridge Gardens has also started, and a new multi-play unit with slide, spring see-saw and spinning bowl are being installed along with a new seat. The total work will cost £20,000.

The final play area to start in this round of improvements is Stiling Close in Highbridge. Work will start on Monday 21st July and includes a replacement set of swings, spring see-saw and spinning bowl along with a new seat and litter bin. The total value there willm be £10,000.

The three play area improvements are being funded by RLT2 Developer Contributions for Outdoor Play which are held by Sedgemoor District Council.

A planned make-over for Talbot Close play area in Highbridge is also currently out to tender with returns due by the end of July.

Alongside this a major refurbishment of the Southwell Gardens play area in Highbridge, costing £64,000, was completed earlier this year.
