Burnham-On-Sea carnival float wins second place at Weston Carnival

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s carnival float came second in its class at the annual Weston-super-Mare Carnival on Monday night (November 17th), which was the final event of this year’s carnival season.

Hillview Carnival Club’s ‘Jester’s Parade’, pictured here, impressed the crowds and judges to round off a successful season for the enthusiastic club.

“We were delighted to get a second place in Weston,” Hillview Chairman Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Overall, we’ve had a great carnival and everyone is very happy with how its gone.”

“We thank everyone who’s supported us at the events, and particularly enjoyed the Burnham carnival last week when local people really got behind us and gave us such a warm reception.”

Hillview also notched up a second place at Shepton Mallet last week, and won third places at each of the other carnivals – including Burnham and Bridgwater.

Hillview’s impressive 100ft-long float was built at the Bristol Bridge Inn in Highbridge at a cost of £14,000 and has 12,500 light bulbs. Click here for Burnham-On-Sea.com’s behind-the-scenes report on how it was built.
