Two arrests after cannabis is seized by Burnham-On-Sea police

-

Police have arrested two people and seized a large quantity of cannabis during two drugs raids in the Burnham-On-Sea area over the past few days.

In the first raid on Thursday (December 29th), officers found a purpose-built cannabis tent at a house in Rooksbridge.

“A substantial quantity of cannabis plants and growing equipment was seized, which will be destroyed,” Sgt Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

He added that a 45 year-old-man was later arrested and admitted production of cannabis.

In a second raid on Friday (December 30th) officers found a home-made cultivation set-up in a house in Highbridge, where lighting equipment and cannabis was also seized. A 33-year-old man was arrested and is on police bail.

“The public can report any suspicions about drug dealing or cannabis being grown in the Burnham area and can be confident that their identity will remain confidential,” added Sgt Kennett.

“Wherever possible, the police will take positive action to remove drugs from our communities.”
