Christmas tree recycling service for Burnham gardeners is launched

-

A Christmas tree recycling service aimed at gardeners has this week been launched at Brent Knoll’s Sanders Garden World.

The centre is giving people across the Burnham-On-Sea area the chance to recycle their fresh tree for free – and then collect the remains later if required for compost.

Peter Burks, General Manager of the garden centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Residents can take their tree to the centre up until January 15th to have it shredded.”

“There is an allocated drop off area for the trees and we will shred them with the help of Somerset Garden Machinery on January 15th.”

“After this date the shredded trees, which can be composted and turned into mulch, will be available for people to collect from the garden centre. Anyone wishing to collect them will need to bring their own bags.”

“Mulch is great to use on flower beds because it suppresses weeds and it also helps during dry spells to keep the ground moist and warmer in winter.”
