An RNLI lifeguard on duty in Burnham-On-Sea came to the aid of a woman suffering a serious asthma attack.
The lifeguard team were alerted by a member of the public to a woman suffering from breathing difficulties.
She had been enjoying the warm summer weather when she started having difficulty breathing.
Lifeguard Dan Sampson, pictured, responded and quickly assessed the casualty, discovering she was having an asthma attack.
He administered an asthma spray and oxygen in an effort to help the casualty breathe more easily. An ambulance arrived on scene and Dan assisted the crew before the woman was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Burnham lifeguard supervisor Ross Leighton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our lifeguards are highly trained in casualty care to deal with a host of situations such as this. Dan did an excellent job, quickly assessing the woman’s medical condition and promptly treating her before her condition could have deteriorated. It was great to see Dan putting his extensive training into practice in a pressured situation.”
RNLI lifeguards at Burnham and Berrow beaches are on duty from 10am to 6pm every day through the summer holiday period until 7th September.
