Rapid response ambulance car attacked and damaged in Highbridge

Police have launched an investigation after a rapid response vehicle was attacked and damaged in Highbridge at the weekend.

Police were called to the town on Sunday evening and their enquiries are continuing.

Police spokesman Scott McPherson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called at just after 5.30pm on Sunday to an incident of criminal damage in Caxton Drive, Highbridge where a male had damaged a first response vehicle.”

“House to house enquiries were carried out and enquiries are ongoing. There have been no arrests.”

Melodie Juste, a spokeswoman from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SWASFT), added: “I can confirm that on Sunday afternoon an incident occurred in Highbridge resulting in a SWASFT rapid response vehicle sustaining significant damage.”

“It is currently off the road undergoing repairs and it is likely to be several days before it can be used operationally again. The matter is being dealt with by the Police.”
